Summary

Metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) transistors offer some advantages (and disadvantages) with respect to bipolar transistors. In this module, we will analyze an MOS transistor amplifier and examine other applications of MOS devices. In modern electronics, MOS play a critical role in integrated circuits. Complementary MOS or CMOS devices will be introduced and applied in analog and digital form. The module also includes both MOS and bipolar transistor amplifier analysis using small signal equivalent circuits.

Objectives

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

Design a DC bias circuit to achieve a particular quiescent point.
Analyze a bipolar and MOSFET amplifier using a dependent source model and determine the gain.
Design a digital circuit using a MOSFET transistor.
Analyze CMOS digital circuits.
